Allegorical Phrase
ISAIAH 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

Noah Webster Dictionary Definition:
ALLEGORY, n. [Gr. other, to speak, a forum, an oration.]
A figurative sentence or discourse, in which the principal subject is described by another subject resembling it in its properties and circumstances. The principal subject is thus kept out of view, and we are left to collect the intentions of the writer or speaker, by the resemblance of the secondary to the primary subject. Allegory is in words that hieroglyphics are in painting. We have a fine example of an allegory in the eightieth Psalm, in which God’s chosen people are represented by a vineyard. The distinction in scripture between a parable and an allegory, is said to be that a parable is a supposed history, and an allegory, a figurative description of real facts. An allegory is called a continued metaphor. The following line in Virgil is an example of an allegory.

Claudite jam rivos, pueri, sat prata biberunt.
Stop the currents, young men, the meadows have drank sufficiently; that is let your music cease, our ears have been sufficiently delighted.

The three angles message can be described and traced in the subject of Isaiah 60 verse 1.

Prophets Wrote for Their Own and Our Day.
“The last books of the Old Testament show us workers taken from the laborers in the field. Others were men of high ability and extensive learning, but the Lord gave them visions and messages. These men of the Old Testament spoke of things transpiring in their day, and Daniel, Isaiah, and Ezekiel not only spoke of things that concerned them as present truth, but their sights reached down to the future, and to what should occur in these last days.—[Letter 132, 1898. “Isaiah, who was permitted by the Lord to see wonderful things, {Volume 4 SDA Bible Commentary pg 1137.1}.

An example is Isaiah’s vision of chapter 6 “The vision given to Isaiah represents the condition of God’s people in the last days. They are privileged to see by faith the work that is going forward in the heavenly sanctuary. “And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament.” As they look by faith into the holy of holies, and see the work of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary {Conflict and Courage pg 234.3} .By faith Isaiah saw the cleansing and purification work of Christ’s ministration in the Most Holy place that is going on these last days.

And we know that “While the investigative Judgment is going forward in Heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation 14. {Great Controversy 1888 pg 425.1}

Isaiah experienced a cleansing by the live coal. “The live coal is symbolical of purification. If it touches the lips, no impure word will fall from them. The live coal also symbolizes the potency of the efforts of the servants of the Lord. God hates all coldness, all commonness, all cheap efforts.(Review and Herald Oct. 16, 1888).

In the “live coal” experience of Isaiah is typified the experience of those living during the Laodicean time period. By the touching of his lips by the live coal “impure word will fall from them” .Given that Isaiah gets this experience at the beginning of his ministry we definitely expect only pure words in his works a result of the purification process .This definitely makes us expect the three angles massage “purifying agent” in his chapters. Remember Great controversy states that, “there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation 14”.This is so in Chapter 60 of the book of Isaiah.
“If ever there was a time in the history of Seventh-day Adventists when they should arise and shine, it is now. No voice should be restrained from proclaiming the third angel’s message. Let none, for fear of losing prestige with the world, obscure one ray of light coming from the Source of all light. It requires moral courage to do the work of God for these last days, but let us not be led by the spirit of human wisdom. The truth should be everything to us. Let those who want to make a name with the world go with the world. {Christ Triumphant 358.3}

Arise, shine
“The path of the just [is] as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. [ Proverbs 4:18].The call to “arise shine” is a call to the path of the just; to “ a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:” [2 Peter 1:19].

When Isaiah calls to “Arise Shine” he calls us to be perfect as our heavenly Father is Perfect – [Mathew 5:48] ,given that those who follow on the light to the perfect day must be found perfect. Again in the call “arise shine” is the call to the moral purpose of prophecy as Paul states in Ephesians, a call to perfection in readiness for the perfect day. “Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”

Blessings of separation;
Numbers 6:21 This [is] the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, [and of] his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside [that] that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation. 6:22 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 6:23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 6:25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 6:27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

The promise to Aaron and his sons was a promise to be “blessed and kept”.This has also been promised to those living at the end of ages, Revelation 1:3 says “Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand. If we read and hear the sayings of prophecy then as promises to the house the house of Aaron were, promises to be “blessed and kept” so will it be with us. Revelation 3:10 says “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” The hour of temptation is when we shall “be brought into close combat with the beast and his image” {Early Writings pg 254.1}.When we read, hear and keep the sayings of the prophecy the Lords countenance will shine upon us.

When Isaiah calls us to “shine” he is calling us into reading, hearing and keeping the sayings of the prophecy by taking heed to the three angles massage which warn us of the beast and his image of which we are to be brought into close combat with. When we take heed “the day star” will arise in our hearts and keep us from the hour of temptation. A star shines, so it will shine in our hearts and we will shine for as a man “ thinketh in his heart, so [is] he. He “the star” shall be a refuge in the time of trouble. But to this keeping [protection] we can only entre if like the Nazarites we separate ourselves for the service and true worship of the Lord. The book of Numbers 6:21 talk of this separation then follow the words of promise in verse 22-27. Those who separate themselves “The LORD will make his face shine upon them, and be gracious unto them: The LORD will lift up his countenance upon them, and give them peace Numbers 6:26-27.They will reflect the glorious shining image of God and shine in return for there is to be a potency of the efforts of the servants of the Lord. This work of separation is called for in the three angles message. So the call to “arise shine” is a call to separate from the unclean forms of worship and service. Separate from offerings on the table of devils. Separate from Babylon.

“Revelation 18 points to the time when, as the result of rejecting the threefold warning of Revelation 14:6-12, the church will have fully reached the condition foretold by the second angel, and the people of God, still in Babylon, will be called upon to separate from her communion. This message is the last that will ever be given to the world; and it will accomplish its work. When those that “believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness,” [2 Thessalonians 2:12.] shall be left to receive strong delusion, and to believe a lie, then the light of truth will shine upon all whose hearts are open to receive it, and all the children of the Lord, that remain in Babylon, will heed the call, “Come out of her, my people.” [Revelation 18:4.] {Great Controversy 1888 pg 390.2}

“God has placed in our hands a banner upon which is inscribed, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12. This is a distinct, separating message,–a message that is to give no uncertain sound. It is to lead the people away from the broken cisterns that contain no water, to the unfailing Fountain of the water of life. {Counsels to Writers and Editors (1946) 11.3}
“Word of my patience”

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

When Isaiah calls us to “shine” he calls us into the “patience of the saints” and this patience of the saints will afford us the “seal of the Living God” and thus avoid “the mark of the beast”.

“ . . . John saw this multitude. This demon worship was revealed to him, and it seemed as though the whole world was standing on the brink of perdition. But as he looked with intense interest, he beheld a company of God’s commandment-keeping people. They had the sign of the living God upon their foreheads, and he exclaimed, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”Manuscript 122, 1898.

“As the ministration of Jesus closed in the holy place, and He passed into the holiest, and stood before the ark containing the law of God, He sent another mighty angel with a third message to the world. A parchment was placed in the angel’s hand, and as he descended to the earth in power and majesty, he proclaimed a fearful warning, with the most terrible threatening ever borne to man. This message was designed to put the children of God upon their guard, by showing them the hour of temptation and anguish that was before them. Said the angel, “They will be brought into close combat with the beast and his image. Their only hope of eternal life is to remain steadfast. Although their lives are at stake, they must hold fast the truth.” The third angel closes his message thus: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” As he repeated these words, he pointed to the heavenly sanctuary. The minds of all who embrace this message are directed to the most holy place, where Jesus stands before the ark, making His final intercession for all those for whom mercy still lingers and for those who have ignorantly broken the law of God. This atonement is made for the righteous dead as well as for the righteous living. It includes all who died trusting in Christ, but who, not having received the light upon God’s commandments, had sinned ignorantly in transgressing its precepts. {Early Writings pg 254.1}

Thy way & saving health among all nations.
Psalm 67:1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm [or] Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; [and] cause his face to shine upon us; 67:2 That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. 67:3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 67:4O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. 67:5Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 67:6[Then] shall the earth yield her increase; [and] God, [even] our own God, shall bless us. 67:7God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

Having read and kept the sayings of the prophecy and received the blessing of the Lord by His countenance of the prophetic light shining upon us then the Lords way will be known upon the Earth. Thus When Isaiah call us to “shine” he calls us to the way of the Lord. What is the way of the Lord? “Thy way, O God, [is] in the sanctuary: who [is so] great a God as [our] God [ Psalm 77:13].The call to “shine” is a call to the bright light of the sanctuary. Those who heed the call to “shine” must enter into uplifting the sanctuary message. David continues to say that those whom have been shined upon will make known the saving health of God. This adds to Isaiah’s call to “shine” .The call to “shine” is a call to embarce health reform and medical missionary movements.

Isaiah’s call to “shine” calls us to an experience when the last work of atonement is going on in heavenly sanctuary. He points to the final work of purification going on as Christ is in the most holy place. We should be heeding to the final warnings of the three angles and the work of health reform which will place us in the path of the just and lead us into perfection , the moral purpose of prophecy, this is by having Christ is us the hope of Glory . No health reform no perfection.

“Clearer than the noonday”
Job 11:13 If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him; 11:14 If iniquity [be] in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles. 11:15For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear: 11:16Because thou shalt forget [thy] misery, [and] remember [it] as waters [that] pass away: 11:17And [thine] age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning. 11:18And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig [about thee, and] thou shalt take thy rest in safety. 11:19Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make [thee] afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
Job says “And [thine] age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.” Being clearer that the noon day means shining forth as the morning. The experience is brought about by the prophetic torch “ a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:” [2 Peter 1:19].

Those that overcome have been promised the Morning star and they will “shine” as the morning. John says “ Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 2:28 And I will give him the morning star.”Who is the morning star? Revelation 22:16 “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star”.

If we take heed to Isaiah’s call to “shine” unto the perfection of the saints then this can only and will be gained if Jesus the “morning star” dwells in us and leads us up the Jacobs ladder as every round gets higher and higher until we reach his full stature unto the perfect day. The purpose, centre, gravity and burden of all prophecies is the Morning star .But the promise to be as the morning star is conditional according to Job.

What are the conditions for perfection?

“If iniquity [be] in thine hand, put it far away” Job 11:13.Here Job warns us against the mark of the beast in the right hand “ If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand” [Revelation 14:9 ]

“lift up thy face without spot;” Job 11:15.A spotted face means a face that has a mark .Here Job warns us against the mark of the beast in the forehead “ If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand” [Revelation 14:9 ]

NB: Some bible translations say -mark of the beast “on” the hand or “on” the forehead-. When we use “on” then the enemies of the truth easily justify their views that the “mark of the beast” is something placed “on”, a literal mark stamped or placed “on” the hand or forehead. This then easily leads us away from the real meaning of what “the mark of the beast” is. The King James Version puts it right by using “in” –“in” the right hand or “in” the forehead. Also God doesn’t allow partial service thus if you have the mark of the beast “in” the right hand “or” the in forehead either is Luke warm service. The same force that He [God] warns of the mark “in” the hand is the same force that he warns of it “in” the forehead.

“In contrast to those who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus, the third angel points to another class, against whose errors a solemn and fearful warning is uttered: “If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God.” [Revelation 14:9, 10.] A correct interpretation of the symbols employed is necessary to an understanding of this message. What is represented by the beast, the image, the mark? {Great Controversy 1888 pg 438.1}

“A refusal to obey the commandments of God, and a determination to cherish hatred against those who proclaim these commandments, leads to the most determined war on the part of the dragon, whose whole energies are brought to bear against the commandment-keeping people of God. ‘He causeth all, both small and great, . . . to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads.'” Not only are men not to work with their hands on Sunday, but with their minds are they to acknowledge Sunday as the Sabbath. “And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” {Review and Herald, April 27, 1911 par. 13}

For us to “shine” is a call to perfect obedience to the commandments of God which will help us avoid & put away iniquity from our right hand and spot from our foreheads. Thus to “shine” as the noon day and have the “morning star” then we must obey the commandments of God. David asserts the same when he says “Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes”- Psalm 119:135. This is the burden of the three angles massage and this is the burden of the message in Isaiah 60:1.

“Oil to make [his] face to shine”
Pslam 104:14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; 104:15 And wine [that] maketh glad the heart of man, [and] oil to make [his] face to shine, and bread [which] strengtheneth man’s heart. 104:16 The trees of the LORD are full [of sap]; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

This leads us to the experience of the ten virgins. “In the parable, all the ten virgins went out to meet the bridegroom. All had lamps and vessels for oil. For a time there was seen no difference between them. So with the church that lives just before Christ’s second coming. All have a knowledge of the Scriptures. All have heard the message of Christ’s near approach, and confidently expect His appearing. But as in the parable, so it is now. A time of waiting intervenes, faith is tried; and when the cry is heard, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him,” many are unready. They have no oil in their vessels with their lamps. They are destitute of the Holy Spirit. {Christ Object Lessons pg 408.2}

“By the lamps is represented the Word of God. . . . The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit”- {Amazing Grace pg 214.2}. “Through the Holy Spirit, God’s word is a light as it becomes a transforming power in the life of the receiver. By implanting in their hearts the principles of His word, the Holy Spirit develops in men the attributes of God. The light of His glory–His character–is to shine forth in His followers. Thus they are to glorify God, to lighten the path to the Bridegroom’s home, to the city of God, to the marriage supper of the Lamb”- {Christ Object Lessons pg 414.2} .To receive and walk in the experience of the early and latter rain by the outpouring of the Holy spirit we must come to an understanding as David says that “herb for the service of man”, “we must study God’s original plan for man’s diet. He who created man and who understands his needs appointed Adam his food. . . . Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator”- {Child Guidance pg 380.1}.

If we embrace Health reform then we “Sow to ourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground of our hearts, for [it is] time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon us.” Hosea 10:12 .When he rains righteousness together with David we can claim “oil to make face to shine”. Isaiah’s call to shine is a call to the experience of the early and latter rain experience through health reform.

Explaining the parabolic story of the ten virgins Ellen white says that like the wise virgins we “are to glorify God, to lighten the path to the Bridegroom’s home, to the city of God, to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Which path is to be lightened other than the path of the Just?

When we receive “oil to make face to shine, and bread [which] strengtheneth man’s heart”; by eating the body of Christ and also drinking his blood, then we shall be as “The trees of the LORD are full [of sap]; as “the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; . – Pslam 104:16”.And we shall in return “Let our light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”. Mathew 5:16.

Our face shining is when we accept to have the image of Christ. It’s him who when he was transfigured “his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light” Mathew 17:2 .A Call to “ shine” is a call to accepts the righteousness of Christ ,Righteousness by faith. For his face and garments did shine too. Clean Garments symbolizes pure character “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Revelation 19:8”.This is also in a secondary sense a call to put of filthy garments by embracing the dress reform.

Enmity to “Arise Shine” invitation.

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

“Satan is continually seeking to overcome the people of God by breaking down the barriers which separate them from the world. Ancient Israel were enticed into sin when they ventured into forbidden association with the heathen. In a similar manner are modern Israel led astray. “The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4. All who are not decided followers of Christ are servants of Satan. In the unregenerate heart there is love of sin and a disposition to cherish and excuse it. In the renewed heart there is hatred of sin and determined resistance against it. When Christians choose the society of the ungodly and unbelieving, they expose themselves to temptation. Satan conceals himself from view and stealthily draws his deceptive covering over their eyes. They cannot see that such company is calculated to do them harm; and while all the time assimilating to the world in character, words, and actions, they are becoming more and more blinded.Conformity to worldly customs converts the church to the world; it never converts the world to Christ. Familiarity with sin will inevitably cause it to appear less repulsive. He who chooses to associate with the servants of Satan will soon cease to fear their master. When in the way of duty we are brought into trial, as was Daniel in the king’s court, we may be sure that God will protect us; but if we place ourselves under temptation we shall fall sooner or later”. {Great Controversy pg 509.1}

Those that watch, pray and put on the armor of righteousness to overcome the wiles of the tempter will “ be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” Philippians 2:15.This is the call of Isaiah.

Thy light is come.

Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof.
When Isaiah is says “thy light” is come, on this point John the apostle agrees that the light is of no lesser personage than Jesus Christ the lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world”. “ John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” John 1:29.When light comes it come to take away our sins. Isaiah’s call to “the light” is a call to a sinless life before translation to heaven.
Rejecting the light that Isaiah calls us into is rejecting Christ. John says In John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 3:19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”.
Rejecting the call of Isaiah into the “light” results from the condition where “men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” Their deeds are evil because they are of their father the devil. So is it with those that reject the everlasting Gospel of the three angel’s message, and that is the condemnation. First light comes then they follow on to make a decision to reject or walk against the light.
Jesus said “Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth” John 12 :35 .Walking “ while we have the light “ is walking in the path of the just, and in the path of the just is the prophetic light which will show us where we have come from, where we are and where we are going. These blessings; those that have rejected the light of prophecy don’t have, for prophecy is history in advance and history is prophecy unrolled. Those that have rejected the light of the three angels messages can’t build the breaches on the walls of Adventism and can’t repair the old waste places for “They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night Job 5:14 “. Job says in Job 12:25 that “They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like [a] drunken [man]. “They are in the darkness of drunkenness from the cup of mother Rome the papacy, they are filled with her fornications. They “grope for the wall like the blind, they grope as they had no eyes: they stumble at noon day as in the night; [they are] in desolate places as dead [men]” Isaiah 59:10.
They grope as if they have no eyes because as Mathew testifies in Mathew 6:23 that “But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness! “

Strange fire
Numbers 26:61 And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD.
“Nadab and Abihu were men in holy office; but by the use of wine their minds became so clouded that they could not distinguish between sacred and common things. By the offering of “strange fire” they disregarded God’s command, and were slain by his judgments. {Colporteur Ministry pg 28.4}”

Jeremiah 5:26-29 says “For among my people are found wicked [men]: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so [are] their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these [things]? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? “
“The house of wicked [men is as a cage is full of birds, so [are] their houses full of deceit” This phrase parallels Revelation 18:2 “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird”.

Spiritual Babylon is the antitypical wicked men spoken of in Jeremiah. Jeremiah says that “They are waxen fat, they shine:”.Thus Babylon also “shines” but not of the true light Jesus Christ. Thus the false Babylonian light that shines is the strange fire. It looks like Holy light from outside but in the details it’s unholy.
In describing the Jesuits one of the papal unholy arms Ellen White says “When appearing as members of their order, they wore a garb of sanctity, visiting prisons and hospitals, ministering to the sick and the poor, professing to have renounced the world, and bearing the sacred name of Jesus, who went about doing good. But under this blameless exterior the most criminal and deadly purposes were concealed. It was a fundamental principle of the order that the end justifies the means. By this code, lying, theft, perjury, assassination, were not only pardonable but commendable, when they served the interests of the church. Under various disguises the Jesuits worked their way into offices of State, climbing up to be the counselors of kings, and shaping the policy of nations. They became servants, to act as spies upon their masters. They established colleges for the sons of princes and nobles, and schools for the common people; and the children of Protestant parents were drawn into an observance of popish rites. All the outward pomp and display of the Romish worship was brought to bear to confuse the mind, and dazzle and captivate the imagination; and thus the liberty for which the fathers had toiled and bled was betrayed by the sons. The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, there followed a revival of popery- {Great Controversy 1888 2pg 34.3}”

Strange fire has been the code of operation of the Catholicism in the person of its wicked Jesuit armies. Those that reject Isaiah’s call to “arise shine” to the true light will be overcome by the false light [strange fire] of the papacy, and will end up receiving the mark of the beast. This is the burden of the three angles warning. Thus the call to “arise shine” in inseparable with the three angles message.

“God designed to teach the people that they must approach Him with reverence and awe, and in His own appointed manner. He cannot accept partial obedience. It was not enough that in this solemn season of worship nearly everything was done as He had directed. . . . Let no one deceive himself with the belief that a part of God’s commandments are nonessential, or that He will accept a substitute for that which He has required.” {Conflict and Courage pg 100.4}

Isaiah’s call to “shine” for “the light” is come is connected by the call to “arise” . Having established that the call to “shine” for our “light” is come and the three angles message are inseparable, then it will be definite that the call to “arise” is also connected to the three angles message.

Given that three angels message is for our times then we turn to the other parts of the scripture of truth to look at things that transpire in our times.

Daniel 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

“The ten horns of this fourth beast are the ten kingdoms into which the fourth empire is divided. The little horn arises in the midst of these ten kingdoms, a different power from these, ruled by a priest-king;, and warring against the cause of God. Paul, in 2Thess.2,presents us this great monster of iniquity as “that Man of Sin,” and as “that Wicked,” “whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and destroy with the brightness of his coming.” He tells us, moreover, that the mystery of iniquity had, even in his time, begun to manifest itself, but that it was restrained by the existing hindrances, i.e., by the pagan government that then controlled the world. Several hundred years of apostasy and rebellion against God were necessary to develop and mature this “Man of Sin,” before he was able to fill the place assigned to him in the prophecy of Daniel.. {1870 JNA, Sermons on the Sabbath and the Law pg 128.1}

Here is pictured the “rise” ascendancy and strengthening into power of the “man of sin” .The man of sin is the same wicked Papacy. Its “rise” is again pictured by John the revelator ;Revelation 13:1 says “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. “

As the man of sin, mystery of iniquity is “rising” and strengthening in this last days as has been pictured with the prophetic pens of Daniel and Revelation so should the remnant heed the call to “Arise”, or else they be overflowed by errors and the flood of the wicked. Isaiah says “Isaiah 9:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him”. Notice that those whom shall arise above the floods of the wicked are those that fear the name of the Lord and his Glory from the rising of the sun this fear of the Lord was the burden of the call “shine”.

Arising to the three angles message must needs be especially in this last days for “many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” Mathew 24:11.
Song of Solomon 2:8 The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills. 2:9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, showing himself through the lattice. 2:10 My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

As the virgins went forth to meet the bridegroom so should we “arise” as Isaiah’s call is. As Song of Solomon testifies is verse ten of the above quoted chapter, those that are worthy to enter in with the bridegroom are those that are fair, their garments not spotted with the world. Isaiah says in Isaiah 52:1 “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. 52:2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, [and] sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. “

According to the order of Ezekiel chapter three there is a requirement that qualifies us to the arise call as Ezekiel was called to arise. “And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee. Ezekiel 3:22”.The requirement that qualifies us to arise is the eating of the little book as Ezekiel did in first verses of chapter three “Ezekiel 3:1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. 3:2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat [it]; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. 3:4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.”Those that eat the little books of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation can’t fail to taste of the three angles message. Thus again we see the three angles message in Isaiah’s call to Arise.

“After these seven thunders uttered their voices, the instruction comes to John, as to Daniel, in regard to the little book: “Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered.”. . . John sees the little book unsealed. . . . Then Daniel’s prophecies have their proper place in the first, second, and third angels’ messages to be given to the world. The unsealing of the little book was the message in relation to time. {Christ Triumphant pg 344.3}

Glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
“The prophecies in the eighteenth of Revelation will soon be fulfilled. During the proclamation of the third angel’s message, “another angel” is to “come down from heaven, having great power,” and the earth is to be “lightened with his glory.” The Spirit of the Lord will so graciously bless consecrated human instrumentalities that men, women, and children will open their lips in praise and thanksgiving, filling the earth with the knowledge of God, and with His unsurpassed glory, as the waters cover the sea. {7BC 983.9}

This angel that comes with glory comes in the days of the proclamation of the third angel’s message. So when Isaiah talk of the “glory of the Lord” is risen upon thee He by faith beholds the closing hours of earth’s history where the three angels message have their place.

“We must not wait for the latter rain. It is coming upon all who will recognize and appropriate the dew and showers of grace that fall upon us. When we gather up the fragments of light, when we appreciate the sure mercies of God, who loves to have us trust Him, then every promise will be fulfilled. [Isaiah 61:11 quoted.] The whole earth is to be filled with the glory of God (Letter 151, 1897). {Volume 7 SDA Bible Commentary pg 984.5} “

The call in Isaiah 60:1 is a call to the early and latter rain experience.
Exodus 24:12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. 24:13 And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God. 24:14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur [are] with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them. 24:15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. 24:16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 24:17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD [was] like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. 24:18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.”

In the presence of the Glory of the Lord Moses is given the “tables of stone, and a law, and commandments” and later given a pattern of the sanctuary. This is the experience that Isaiah calls us to,sanctuary message and the Decalogue of which in the middle of the commandments is the Sabbath commandment..Obedience is and has been the moral purpose of the three angel’s message. “As God called the children of Israel out of Egypt, that they might keep His Sabbath, so He calls His people out of Babylon, that they may not worship the beast or his image. The man of sin, who thought to change times and laws, has exalted himself above God, by presenting a spurious sabbath to the world; the Christian world has accepted the child of the papacy, and cradled and nourished it, thus defying God by removing His memorial, and setting up a rival sabbath. After the truth has been proclaimed as a witness to all nations, every conceivable power of evil will be set in operation, and minds will be confused by many voices crying, “Lo, here is Christ; lo, He is there. This is the truth, I have the message from God, He has sent me with great light.” Then there will be a removing of the landmarks, and an attempt to tear down the pillars of our faith. A more decided effort will be made to exalt the false sabbath, and to cast contempt upon God Himself by supplanting the day He has blessed and sanctified. This false sabbath is to be enforced by an oppressive law. {Volume 7 SDA Bible Commentary pg 985.1}

“The time has come when, as never before, Seventh-day Adventists are to arise and shine, because their light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon them.–Letter 296, 1904. “
