evil day

Ecclesiastes 12:1-2 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:

In Ecclesiastes we are called to remember our creator while the evil days come not..

Old wives’ fables
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself [rather] unto godliness” 1Timothy 4:1-7.

Those who are ‘nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine’ shall not give heed to ‘seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils’ and they shall refuse profane ‘old wives fables’.

A synonym for ‘fable’ is ‘tale’. Old wives fables’ is also called ‘old wives tales’

Full Definition of OLD WIVES’ TALE~
An often traditional belief that is not based on fact – Merriam Webster Dictionary

Traditional belief not based on facts. This is synonymous with the scriptures term “Tradition of men”–“Commandments of men” .Those that are ‘nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine’ shall refuse ‘commandments of men’. See Colossians 2:6-8 ‘As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, [so] walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.’

Traditions of men spoils and deters from being ‘Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith’ and from being ‘nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine’. ‘Tradition of men’ corrupts the faith of Jesus. The faith of Jesus describes the peculiar character of those that faithfully heed to the everlasting Gospel. See Review and Herald January 31, 1888 par. 12 ‘John beheld an angel flying through the midst of heaven, warning men of the final judgments of God. He proclaimed the position of those who heeded his warning, and who would escape the seven last plagues. He announced them as God’s people, and called attention to their peculiar character: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” The time for the fulfillment of this prophecy has come. We hear the sound of this very message calling the attention of men and women to the broken law of God, and demanding repentance and reform’.

The Everlasting Gospel cry of the three angles message begins with the first angel ‘Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters’. Revelation 14;7 .First angels message is a call to worship him that made the ‘heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters ‘.Its the God the creator that made the ‘heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters’. This is also the burden of Ecclesiastes 12:1-2, when it calls us to remember ‘our creator’ in the days our youths. The call of the everlasting Gospel is a call to refuse profane ‘traditions of men’, old wives fable/tales, because they that heed to the everlasting Gospel call have the faith of Jesus.

“God has a distinct people, a church on earth, second to none, but superior to all in their facilities to teach the truth, to vindicate the law of God. God has divinely appointed agencies—men whom He is leading, who have borne the heat and burden of the day, who are cooperating with heavenly instrumentalities to advance the kingdom of Christ in our world. Let all unite with these chosen agents, and be found at last among those who have the patience of the saints, who keep the commandments of God, and have the faith of Jesus”{Counsels for the Church pg 240.4}.

After calling us to refrain from profane old wives fables and have the faith of Jesus, Paul continues to exhort that ‘This [is] a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.’ 1 Timothy 4:9-13.

The foregoing mentioned things in 1Timothy 4:1-7 are worthy of all acceptation and if we labour in these things, then let no man despise thy youth. Youth not despised only and as when a youth is an example in word and continues to give attendance to doctrine. Youth is synonymous with strength or rather days of strength; See Isaiah 40:30-31 “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint”. A Christian that walks in moral strength gives no heed to ‘old wives fables’. The call to let no man despise thy youth is mainly a call to no man despising thy youth as concerning age and secondarily a call not to despise thy youthful moral strength, a tender heart born again walking in newness of life, that has no ‘old wives fables’ ,’traditions of men’ but gives heed to word/doctrine. ‘Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth’ is an exhortation that we should remember our creator before age catches up with us, it’s also a call to remember our creator in the days of a strong and ready mind[youthful mind] that holds no ‘old wives fables’. A strong, ready, youthful mind not “having their conscience seared with a hot iron” not corrupted by ‘traditions of men’ will heed to the everlasting Gospel that reminds us of the creator. Such a mind will give no heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.‘The glory of young men [is] their strength: and the beauty of old men [is] the grey head’. Proverbs 20:29.

“As Christians submit to the solemn rite of baptism, He registers the vow that they make to be true to Him. This vow is their oath of allegiance. They are baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Thus they are united with the three great powers of heaven. They pledge themselves to renounce the world and to observe the laws of the kingdom of God. Henceforth they are to walk in newness of life. No longer are they to follow the traditions of men. No longer are they to follow dishonest methods. They are to obey the statutes of the kingdom of heaven. They are to seek God’s honor. If they will be true to their vow, they will be furnished with grace and power that will enable them to fulfill all righteousness. “As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.–Letter 129, 1903.” {Evangelism page 307.3}

Satisfied Mouth

Psalm 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good [things; so that] thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

“The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight [thereof], not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over [God’s] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1 Peter 5:1-6.

“The elders which are among you I exhort” to be ensamples, “Likewise, ye younger”, be ensamples. An elder/remnant that walks in moral strength, a newness of life a “moral backbone, an integrity that cannot be flattered, bribed, or terrified.”—[Ministry of Healing, pp. 497, 498] is like a youth walking in soundness of doctrine, who is an example, also a youth who walks in newness of life is likened after the ensample of an elder who is of ready/strong mind giving heed to the doctrines of God .“An ensample”, is to be an elder/remnant/youth who gives heed to good doctrines. Elders are called to “Feed the flock of God”, the flock of God is fed on good doctrines/pasture, see Ezekiel 34:14-15 “I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and [in] a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.”. An Elder is to be a partaker of the suffering and glory of God “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us” Romans 8:18. “Likewise” the youth are to be after the ensample of the elders. Yea; “all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

When all, an elder and a youth have put on the garment of humility to be “ensamples” they are called to be sober minded. See 1 Peter 5:6-9 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”A sober mind does not reel under the effect of intoxication, by reason of wine. What is that wine? “Babylon is fallen, “because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” What is that wine?–her false doctrines. She has given to the world a false sabbath instead of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and has repeated the falsehood that Satan first told to Eve in Eden–the natural immortality of the soul. Many kindred errors she has spread far and wide, “teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”.Maranatha page 171.4. The wine is false doctrines, the commandments of men. A sober mind will be “steadfast in the faith of Jesus” a faith which wine corrupts, if we be given to wine. If elders and youths who are worthy to be ensamples contend for the faith, the faith of and in Jesus, they shall overcome the devil, the father of lies, false doctrines, commandments of men. We should remember our creator in the days of our youth/strength by not being given to “wine” [false doctrines].

“In the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel’s message is, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” And in the loud cry of the third angel’s message a voice is heard from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” {Maranatha page 171.5}

Such persons that are worthy of being ensamples to the brethren have been promised the “crown of life” when the chief shepherd shall appear. “The hoary head [is] a crown of glory, [if] it be found in the way of righteousness.” Proverbs 16:31.What is hoary head?

Strong’s concordance definition

H7872
שֵׂיבָה
śêybâh
say-baw’
Feminine of H7869; old age: – (be) gray (grey, hoar, -y) hairs (head, -ed), old age.

Hoary head is grey head. And grey head [hair] symbolizes wisdom if that grey hair is found in the path of righteousness. The promises of Christ which shall be literal at/after his second coming can be enjoyed spiritually in the world that now is as we await the world that is to come. See “Open the Bible before the tempted, struggling one, and over and over again read to him the promises of God. These promises will be to him as the leaves of the tree of life. Patiently continue your efforts, until with grateful joy the trembling hand grasps the hope of redemption through Christ”{Ministry of Healing pg 173.1}. We shall be crowned with a crown of glory when Jesus appears the second time, but also if we walk in righteousness in the life that now is we spiritually enjoy the promise of the “crown of glory”, a hoary head to mean wisdom .The all wise Lord has also promised to be a crown of Glory to the faithful remnants, see Isaiah 28:5 “In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people” Those to whom He[Jesus] is not their wisdom/crown of Glory shall be left for the devils crown of pride which is for those that have been overcome with wine, the doctrines of men. See Isaiah 28:1 “Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty [is] a fading flower, which [are] on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!”. Wine[tradition of men] crowns with a crown of pride that fadeth away but true doctrine that elders and youths have been called to ,crowns with glory.

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” Men whom God has called to the work of saving souls will feel a burden for the people. Selfish interests will be swallowed up in their deep concern for the salvation of souls for whom Christ died. They will feel the force of the exhortation of Peter: “The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” {Vol 2 Testimonies to the church pg 544.1}

Elders, remnants, youths that walk in doctrines,and enjoying the spiritual promise of the “crown of glory” shall save also they that hear them, see 1 Timothy 4:16 “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee”. They that hear will only hear when you talk for “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” Luke 6:45.A heart filled with wisdom is a mouth without guile.“The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.The law of his God [is] in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.” Psalm 37:30-31. “The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.Understanding [is] a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools [is] folly.The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”Provebs 16:21-24. The wise store the law of God in their hearts and since the heart teacheth the mouth, then they shall save them that hear them. The heart teacheth the mouth, the mouth, addeth learning to the lips” and “sweetness of the lips increaseth learning” which are health to the bones .Lips that give pleasant words that are as sweet as honeycomb will add learning.

What are these pleasant words that are as sweet as honey comb?

“And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take [it], and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings” Revelation 10:9-11.

“In this highly-figurative portion of the prophecy, John, in receiving the little book from the hand of the angel, represents those who received the doctrine of the coming and kingdom of Christ, as proclaimed in connection with the time, based upon the prophecy of Daniel. His eating the little book, and enjoying its sweetness, represents the holy delight with which they feasted upon the gospel of the coming kingdom. In the symbol, the little book in the mouth of John was as sweet as honey. “What is sweeter than honey?” And what could feast the consecrated soul, imbued with the love of Jesus, as the news of his soon return in glory, with all the holy angels, to redeem those who loved and looked for his appearing? But in the symbol there is a change from the sweetness of honey to bitterness. This represents the change from the joy of bright hope to the painful sadness of disappointment, experienced by believers at the passing of the time. The hope and faith had been to them an anchor in the storm, a shield in the fight, and their exceeding joy all the day long; and as they drew near the point of expectation, their hopes grew brighter, their faith stronger, and their joys were complete. The time passed; and only those who felt it can form any idea of the bitterness of that disappointment. Probably there never has been a time since the crucifixion, that the high expectations and bright hopes of the disciples of Jesus, have been so completely crushed as at the passing of the time in 1844. And the feelings of the many thousands of disappointed ones were like those expressed by Mary: “They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.” {1868 James White, Life Incidence pg 214.3}.

It’s the eating of the little book that makes the mouth thus lips sweet. “ The chronology of the events of Revelation 10 is further ascertained from the fact that this angel is identical with the first angel of Revelation 14. The points of identity between them are easily seen” {Daniel And the Revelation pg 521.1}.One point of identity is that both messages of Revelation 10 and 14 point us to the creator. See Revelation 10:6 “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:” Revelation 14:7 “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”We noted that “The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment”. In revelation 10 and 14 we locate a judgment hour message. The call to remember our creator in the days of our youth, in the days before we exhaust our strength is a call that points us also to the messanger of Adventism of revelation 10 and the three angels message of revelation 14 .

By eating the little book we store a good treasure in the heart, satisfy our mouth with good things and renew our youth, renew our strength, give good pasture to the flock,then become ensamples to them that hear us,they also renew their strength [youth] and together with the psalmist we proclaim “Who satisfieth thy mouth with good [things; so that] thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Thus able to remember our creator in the days of our strength [youth], while the evil days come not.

“The first and second messages [Revelation 14:6-8] were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed. It is just as essential now as ever before that they shall be repeated to those who are seeking for the truth. By pen and voice we are to sound the proclamation, showing their order and the application of the prophecies that bring us to the third angel’s message. There cannot be a third without the first and second. . . . The book that was sealed was not the book of Revelation, but that portion of the prophecy of Daniel that related to the last days. . . . When the book was opened, the proclamation was made, “Time shall be no longer.” The book of Daniel is now unsealed, and the revelation made by Christ to John is to come to all the inhabitants of the earth. By the increase of knowledge a people is to be prepared to stand in the latter days.” {Christ Triumphant pg 338.4}.

While the evil days come not.

Prophet Jeremiah says “As for me, I have not hastened from [being] a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was [right] before thee. Be not a terror unto me: thou [art] my hope in the day of evil.Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.” Jeremiah 17:16-18.

Among the events of the evil days, God shall be a terror to those who don’t have sweet lips “that which came out of my lips was [right] before thee. Be not a terror unto me: thou [art] my hope in the day of evil” .Those that eat the little book that is as sweet as honey shall have no guile in their mouth. “Finally, [be ye] all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, [be] pitiful, [be] courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil. And who [is] he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? 2 Peter 3:8-13.

“Our own course of action will determine whether we shall receive the seal of the living God, or be cut down by the destroying weapons. Already a few drops of God’s wrath have fallen upon the earth; but when the seven last plagues shall be poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation, then it will be forever too late to repent, and find shelter. No atoning blood will then wash away the stains of sin.” {Christian Experience and Teachings pg 187.3}

The Sabbath is the seal of the living God “The sign, or seal, of God is revealed in the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath, the Lord’s memorial of creation. . . . The mark of the beast is the opposite of this–the observance of the first day of the week.{Last Day Events pg 224.3}.

The Fourth Commandments begins with remember, in Ecclesiastes we are called to “Rembember our creator”… “In Revelation 14, men are called upon to worship the Creator, and the prophecy brings to view a class that, as the result of the threefold message, are keeping the commandments of God. One of these commandments points directly to God as the Creator. The fourth precept declares: “The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. . . . For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.” [Exodus 20:10, 11.] Concerning the Sabbath, the Lord says, further, that it is “a sign, . . . that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.” [Ezekiel 20:20.] And the reason given is, “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.” [Exodus 31:17.]“The importance of the Sabbath as the memorial of creation is that it keeps ever present the true reason why worship is due to God,” because he is the Creator, and we his creatures. “The Sabbath therefore lies at the very foundation of divine worship; for it teaches this great truth in the most impressive manner, and no other institution does this.The true ground of divine worship, not of that on the seventh day merely, but of all worship, is found in the distinction between the Creator and his creatures. This great fact can never become obsolete, and must never be forgotten.” It was to keep this truth ever before the minds of men, that God instituted the Sabbath in Eden; and so long as the fact that he is our Creator continues to be a reason why we should worship him, so long the Sabbath will continue as its sign and memorial. Had the Sabbath been universally kept, man’s thoughts and affections would have been led to the Creator as the object of reverence and worship, and there would never have been an idolater, an atheist, or an infidel. The keeping of the Sabbath is a sign of loyalty to the true God, “him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” It follows that the message which commands men to worship God and keep his commandments, will especially call upon them to keep the fourth commandment. {Great Controversy pg 88 437.2}

The call to remember our creator in the days of our strength is a reminder to honor the Sabbath .After Peter’s call to elders, youths and brethren who follow after their ensamples to be sober and of moral strength he goes ahead to tell them “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you]”. 1 Peter5:10.This is the glory to be revealed to those partake of it in the days of their strength, and they shall be stablished, strengthened, and settled. Settled to mean sealed. “Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads–it is not any seal or mark that can be seen,but a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved–just as soon as God’s people are sealed and prepared for the shaking, it will come.{Last Day Events pg 219.4}.Only the sinless, perfect shall be sealed.

Jeremiah says that the day of evil is a day of double destruction ‘be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.”Who are they that shall be destroyed in the day of ‘double destruction’?

Revelation 18:1-6 ‘And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.’

Babylon’s punishment is ‘Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double’. This is a double destruction. Among the happenings of the ‘evil days’ is the double destruction of Babylon. We should remember our creator before the day of Babylon’s double destruction.

‘As probation has closed, “the light of a candle shall shine no more at all” in Babylon. The voice of joy is turned to mourning; the social gatherings and the marriage feasts no longer offer any attraction; merchants and the great men of earth fail because of the destruction of great Babylon. The earth is literally turned upside down, and it reels to and fro like a drunken man; for great Babylon has come in remembrance before God. Her iniquities have reached unto heaven, and God comes down to reward her double according to her works. As the ancient city of Babylon was overthrown because she forsook the way of life, so modern Babylon dies. None need partake of her plagues; for all had an opportunity to separate from her midst. God is to-day making up His spiritual kingdom. His subjects are on the earth, and by the strong magnet of His love He is drawing to Himself all who prefer a spiritual life to one of earth.’{Story of the Seer of Patmos pg 312-313.}

While there shall be a double destruction to those of Babylon, to the wise and faithful it shall be a day of ‘double honour’ .See 1Timothy 5:17 ‘Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. ‘

Worthy of ‘double honour’ are they that haven’t drank from profane ‘old wives fables’ cup of Babylon. They that follow the ensample of elders ‘who labour in the word and doctrine’.

‘When the work of the investigative judgment closes, the destiny of all will have been decided for life or death. Probation is ended a short time before the appearing of the Lord in the clouds of heaven. Christ in the Revelation, looking forward to that time, declares: “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Revelation 22:11, 12.The righteous and the wicked will still be living upon the earth in their mortal state—men will be planting and building, eating and drinking, all unconscious that the final, irrevocable decision has been pronounced in the sanctuary above. Silently, unnoticed as the midnight thief, will come the decisive hour which marks the fixing of every man’s destiny, the final withdrawal of mercy’s offer to guilty men.’{Counsels for the Church pg 349.4}.

“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they [are] a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein, Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, [and] to serve other gods, whom they knew not, [neither] they, ye, nor your fathers.Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending [them], saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods. Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted [and] desolate, as at this day”. Jeremiah 44:2-6.

In the above texts Jeremiah paints us a picture of what will happen in the evil day, the wrath of God shall be poured upon those who burn incense to other gods, idolaters that is.

“The victims of the drink habit become so maddened under the influence of liquor that they are willing to sell their reason for a glass of whisky. They do not keep the commandment, “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” Their moral power is so weakened that they have no strength to resist temptation, and their desire for drink is so strong that it eclipses all other desires, and they have no realization of the fact that God requires them to love Him with all their hearts. They are practical idolaters; for whatever alienates the affections from the Creator, whatever weakens and deadens moral power, usurps His throne, and receives the service that is due to Him alone. In all these vile idolatries Satan is worshiped.”{Temperance pg 38.1}.

“The great sin charged against Babylon is, that she “made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” This cup of intoxication which she presents to the world , represents the false doctrines that she has accepted as the result of her unlawful connection with the great ones of the earth. Friendship with the world corrupts her faith, and in her turn she exerts a corrupting influence upon the world by teaching doctrines which are opposed to the plainest statements of Holy Writ”. {Great Controversy 1888 pg 388.1}

‘Woe to them [that are] at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, [which are] named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: [be they] better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border? Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;That chant to the sound of the viol, [and] invent to themselves instruments of music, like David; That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.’ Amos 6:1-16

Them [that are] at ease, that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall,[they don’t feed the flock with the little book], that drink wine in bowls. It’s them that are of the foregoing described character that ‘put far away the evil day’. …Those that put far away the evil day be reason of their drunkenness and ease are characterized in Luke 12:45 ‘But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;’….This are they that say the Lord has forsaken the earth, they don’t remember the creator while the evil days come not…. ‘Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth’. Ezekiel 8:12 …‘Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah [is] exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. Ezekiel 9:9 .

Those that say the Lord has forsaken the earth and delayeth his coming are they that say, ‘Where is the promise of his coming?’ See 2 Peter 3:3-10 ‘Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.’

To those that are at ease we are told that to them the ‘day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night’. Isaiah says that ‘Howl ye; for the day of the LORD [is] at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces [shall be as] flames.Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.’ Isaiah 13:6-13 .

‘Let everyone to whom the Lord has given light from His Word be sure to make a right use of that light. Let all be guarded that they do not presume to feed the flock of God with food that is not appropriate for the time. Talk of the speedy appearing of the Son of man in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Put not off that day. God has given no one light to say, “My Lord delayeth his coming.” Let the inquiry be made, Shall I stand at the right hand or at the left hand of the Judge at that day?’{Christ Triumphant pg 346.4}

In Ecclesiastes we read that ‘Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:’ In the evil day there will be darkening of the sun, stars and moon and according to Isaiah in the ‘day of the Lord’ there shall be darkening of the sun, stars and moon. We saw that God shall be a terror to the filthy in the ‘evil day’ and Isaiah testifies that in the ‘day of the Lord God’ shall punish the world for their evil. It’s easy to see that the ‘day of Lord’ spoken of is the same as ‘evil day’ spoken of.

‘But there is a day that God hath appointed for the close of this world’s history: “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Prophecy is fast fulfilling. More, much more, should be said about these tremendously important subjects. The day is at hand when the destiny of every soul will be fixed forever. This day of the Lord hastens on apace. The false watchmen are raising the cry, “All is well;” but the day of God is rapidly approaching. Its footsteps are so muffled that it does not arouse the world from the death-like slumber into which it has fallen. While the watchmen cry, “Peace and safety,” “sudden destruction” cometh upon them, and they shall not escape; “for as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” It overtakes the pleasure-lover and the sinful man as a thief in the night. When all is apparently secure, and men retire to contented rest, then the prowling, stealthy, midnight thief steals upon his prey. When it is too late to prevent the evil, it is discovered that some door or window was not secured. “Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh.” People are now settling to rest, imagining themselves secure under the popular churches; but let all beware, lest there is a place left open for the enemy to gain an entrance. Great pains should be taken to keep this subject before the people. The solemn fact is to be kept not only before the people of the world, but before our own churches also, that the day of the Lord will come suddenly, unexpectedly. The fearful warning of the prophecy is addressed to every soul. Let no one feel that he is secure from the danger of being surprised. Let no one’s interpretation of prophecy rob you of the conviction of the knowledge of events which show that this great event is near at hand.’ {Special Testimonies on Education pg 107.1}

Amos also testifies that they that put far away the evil day [day of the Lord] and walk in drunkenness bring near the ‘seat of violence’. The seat of violence is the ‘throne of iniquity’. See Psalm 94:20-23 ‘Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But the LORD is my defence; and my God [is] the rock of my refuge. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; [yea], the LORD our God shall cut them off.’

The ‘seat of violence’ is the ‘throne of iniquity’ that frameth mischief by law .This is the throne of the ‘man of sin’ See 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10 ‘Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:[Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved’.

The throne of iniquity of the ‘man of sin’ shall also frame a law by mischief,the Sunday Law.

‘Not having a “Thus saith the Scriptures” to bring against the advocates of the Bible Sabbath, they will resort to oppressive enactments to supply the lack. To secure popularity and patronage, legislators will yield to the demand for a Sunday law. Those who fear God cannot accept an institution that violates a precept of the Decalogue. On this battlefield comes the last great conflict of the controversy between truth and error. And we are not left in doubt as to the issue. Now, as in the days of Mordecai, the Lord will vindicate His truth and His people.’ {Counsels for the Church pg 335.1}

Remember the law of mischief is a child of the papacy; ‘through his deceptive power, Satan made of none effect the fourth commandment, and men taught for doctrine the commandments of men. Sunday, the child of papacy, has been accepted and nourished and cherished by the religious world. They have looked upon Sunday as the Sabbath, the sanctified day of rest, when there is not a particle of Scriptural evidence to justify the claim of this spurious Sabbath. Through the agency of the man of sin, men have been led to exalt Sunday where the Sabbath of the Lord alone should be exalted. The Lord God of hosts is to be exalted, and his law is to be honored. In this day he has sent special light. The third angel is represented as flying in the midst of heaven, heralding to the inhabitants of the world the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.’ {Review and Herald, April 25, 1893 par. 8}.

The ungodly men, scoffers that don’t remember their creator walk in drunkenness [old wives fables] will bring near [have communion with] the man of sin , his thrones power and authority. These are they that are characterized in Revelation 13:2-4 ‘And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

The power, seat and great authority is given to the ‘man of sin’ by the devil through ‘pagan Rome’. The devil has power of death; See Hebrews 2:14 ‘him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;…. It’s a seat of violence ‘for they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause [some] to fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.’ Proverbs 4:16-17.The dominion that the ‘seat of violence’ has is used in persecuting the righteous, and making the lost drink the drink of death ;the ‘wine of her fornication’, wine of violence, and they that are made drunk become worthy of death , it’s a ‘power of death’,. But we find consolation ‘For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death.’ 1 Corinthians 15:22-26.

They that don’t ‘remember their creator’, have no God in all their thoughts and give themselves to vile affections , to dishonour their own bodies ,like the LGBTQ’s .See Romans 1:21-32 ‘Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.’

They that have forgotten their God, are overcome by the wiles of the ‘mystery of iniquity’ bring close the ‘throne of iniquity’ ‘with the leaven of malice and wickedness’, ‘mystery of iniquity’ has a ‘throne of iniquity’ and ‘power of death’. They that become ‘vain in their imaginations’ ,the scriptures of truth say that ‘they which commit such things are worthy of death’, ‘reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men’

But those that remember the Lord in the days of their youth [strength] will together with the psalmist proclaim ‘Who [is] like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high’ Psalm 113:5…Together with the youth they will proclaim ‘Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these [things] God will bring thee into judgment.Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth [are] vanity. ‘Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:’ Ecclesiastes 11:9-10,12;1-2.
